Vermont is a beautiful area that is very much a land of small towns and strong regional identities. The state is broken up into three regions, with each are providing something different and exciting. At the tip of this state is Northern Vermont. Here you will find the best of both worlds in the Green Mountains. You will find the bustling and exciting area of Burlington, the state's largest city, and some of the most rural towns in Vermont. Below Northern Vermont is the Central region. Central Vermont hosts the state capital of Montpelier and a variety of historic downtowns which include Brandon, Rutland, Vergennes, Woodstock, White River Jct., Middlebury and Randolph. Last but certainly not least is Southern Vermont. The southern part of the state offers a blend of picturesque villages and lively communities such as Bennington, Brattleboro, Manchester, Bellows Falls, Newfane and Arlington. Each of these regions offers fun and exciting activities for both visitors and locals alike.
Whether you are traveling to Vermont in the winter or the summer, there's always something to do! During the winter months, visitors can take in the classic images of festive villages dressed for season celebrations to the deep mountain snow and the exciting sleigh rides. You can enjoy building a snowman with the family, ice-skating on the pond, ice climbing, and sledding. Vermont is also known for it's skiing, snow shoeing and various other outdoor activities. After the snow melts and spring arrives, the sunshine begins to stick around for a while longer and the budding of flowers and trees are upon us. In the springtime, Vermont is well known for the sound of sap dripping into countless buckets hanging on trees. Late April through early June is ideal for a getaway to Vermont. You can enjoy hiking the trails, seeing the sites and smothering pancakes in this sweet and sticky local treat.
The summer months in Vermont are both relaxing and exciting all at once. Summer is all about the beautiful natural surroundings, the most unique artists and musicians of the day, the timeless downtowns dotting the landscape, and the season's freshest local foods. Along with these, the summer collection of various wines and beers is popular as well. Summers are custom-made for discovering both yourself and your amazing natural world around you. As fall moves in, Vermont's fall foliage takes center state. Touring the state in search of yet another view is a timeless tradition for both visitors and Vermonters. This is the perfect time to explore back roads on a bike, paddle a pristine lake, register for a road race or hike a mountain. With so much to do, Vermont has it all - no matter what the season!
